Comments
Please note that the Council does not currently allow comments, this portion of the privacy policy exists in the event that the Council does enable comments.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comment box, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string (the user agent is not personally identifying) to help spam detection
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed. Please note that he cookie is not used to track you on other websites.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
The Council uses a number of plugins in order to operate the website, some plugins may create cookies to enable improved site functionality. For example, if a user signs up for an event on the Council’s website and leaves the page, upon returning to the same event sign-up page the user will be notified that they already have a ticket for that event.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
An example to illustrate the above mentioned points. If an article on the website includes an embedded YouTube video and you interact with video player, YouTube may collect any or all of the data listed above.
Who we share your data with
The Health + Community Care Workforce Sector Council will never collect or share your data for the purpose of sale. The Council may share elements of your data with the companies that create the plugins we use or our payment processor, however, the data being shared is limited to only data related to the plugins functionality or your purchase being made. For example, If you submit your personal information via a purchase window for a course on the HCCWSC site your data is shared with Stripe (our payment processor) for the purposes of completing your purchase.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Should you submit data to the website of any variety by any means, the user (you) should assume that data is being retained indefinitely. Although, the Council does delete data periodically if it is no longer needed. For example, if a reimbursement form for training on the site is submitted, the Council will retain your data for the purposes of reimbursement, and for record keeping/legal requirements. Alternatively, If a form is submitted to register for an event this data will be deleted after the event, unless otherwise stated, or if data must be retained for future communications related to the event.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, or have submitted forms, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
You may also contact the Council at any time should you have questions about your data. The Council will make a reasonable effort to answer any questions that you have accurately and in a timely manner. You can contact the Council at admin@hcsc.ca.
Where your data is sent
All data is stored on Hostinger.com servers, as this company hosts the hccwsc.ca website. Data is occasionally exported for use by the Council for relevant matters. For example, the Council’s accountant may require data relating to reimbursements provided by the Council to be exported to fulfill legal requirements for record keeping.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
